WEDNESDAYS 10-11AM EASTERN

THINK LIKE A MUSIC DIRECTOR

Through the eyes and ears (and fingers!) of a music director, learn what it takes to infuse a production with musical vitality.

Over the course we’ll wear many musical and creative hats to deepen our understanding of what it means to be a singing actor. We’ll talk about collaborating with the songwriters (and orchestrators, dance arrangers, ensemble, directors, choreographers, and orchestra itself)— and see how it all intersects with our role as interpretive artists in putting up a show.

Some outside music-making and project-based work should be expected, and everyone should come to the Week 1 table with a script and score they want to focus on.

Using different musical lenses, concepts, and styles throughout Bway history, we’ll expand horizons in how to think about, create, analyze, respond, and act in partnership with great principles that guide music directing and our artform. And if you’re taking the course again, whatever new show you choose this month will make it full of new discoveries!
