FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
I heard JWS has a sponsorship program. What is it and how/when do I apply?
The Allied Artists Sponsorship is a grass roots initiative, completely led by artists in the JWS Community. JWS provides administrative support for the sponsorship, but the sponsorship itself is guided by a rotating Steering Committee made up entirely of community members. The Steering Committee sets the intention for each sponsorship cycle and selects the recipients. Our Studio is so grateful for the knowledge, service, and advocacy of the Artists who serve on the Steering Committee. Applications are now open for the July sponsorship. Click here to apply.
What do I need to be able to participate in JWS Online?
A computer and webcam (built in or external, with microphone and video capabilities), A stable internet connection and a quiet space. That's all. (Well, you'll also need a desire to learn, an imagination, and a willingness to experiment.)
I am "technologically challenged". Can you help me?
Yes! Every month before the session begins, we offer orientation sessions for for new students to help set you up for success. We got you. Breathe.
Will all JWS classes be recorded and posted online?
Yes. All JWS Online classes are recorded and made available for the entirety of the month. If you miss a class, it is super easy to catch up.
Can I record classes myself?
No. Privacy and confidentiality are a high priority for us at JWS. We promise everyone in our studio a safe space in which to explore and create. You may not record your peers, your teachers, or any other JWS community member for any reason. Any violation of this policy results in immediate dismissal from the studio, no exceptions.
Will I have access to my classes after the month has ended?
We close the classroom and the callboard on the Sunday evening after the final class of each month. At that point you will no longer have access to the classroom materials.
I am low vision or D/deaf/hard of hearing. Is JWS Online accessible to me?
JWS has partnered with ABG Inclusion Consulting to build a more inclusive studio for Artists with disabilities. All of our classes have closed captions. If you need transcripts, audio-only, large print, etc, just let us know and we will work with our inclusion consultant to make that happen. We may need a little extra time to get you everything you need, but we promise to get you everything you need.
